The animals are out for Christmas to support McVitie’s

Biscuit brand McVities has launched a Christmas TV advert – its first in more than 30 years – to promote its Victoria selection box.

The £1m ad features a family who open the biscuit box only to be surprised when a parade of animals emerge and start to sing (or, rather, bark, yelp and grunt) the Yazoo hit ‘Only You.’

Sarah Heynen, marketing director at brand owner United Biscuits, confirmed that, “What we wanted to do was really build on the role that McVitie’s plays throughout the year, and bring that feeling to Christmas.

“We wanted to create a really distinctive execution that would stand out from the crowd of all the other Christmas ads.”

The ad is the latest attempy by McVitie’s to modernise its brand, following 2014’s successful “sweet” ad campaign.
